Vehicle Insurance Renewal Fresno California CA

Reader’s Question:

My car insurance policy was automatically renewed so I forgot to report to my car insurance company in Fresno California that I had a speeding conviction before the renewal date. Does this mean, I invalidated my policy and I would not be protected by the policy at all?

If your insurance company in Fresno California called you on renewal and asked you if you had any new tickets or traffic violations and you specifically said no knowing you did that could cause you problems. But if they didn’t call you and you did get one you can always tell them. I know this because I’m working for an insurance company for years now. We would never void a policy if they didn’t report a violation to us. Not only is it a bad business practice but when you think about it they could possibly be collecting more premium for your conviction than they would do if they were to cancel you.

You should give them a call, tell them you did get one and just be honest with them since they have the right to pull your driving history.

Your policy is valid until they send you a letter saying that it’s no longer valid so if the policy expires and they decide to renew you, they always look at your driver’s record. If they do not see the conviction on your driver’s record, you have nothing to worry about. On several occasions, I have had a ticket and the insurance carrier was not able to see then from my driving history for some reason during the time of renewal.
