Teen Car Insurance Rate Tanner-Williams Alabama AL

Reader’s Question:

My mom emphasized the importance of keeping a good driving record all the time. According to her, having a clean driving record would mean getting lower auto insurance rate for her, since I am teen driver and under her policy. I also heard from her that no matter where I got the moving violation ticket, it will still be reported back to Tanner-Williams, Alabama because of the DLC. So that would still mean getting higher car insurance premiums in once I got a moving violation. I am just curious, what states are members of the DLC? What does DLC really mean?

Tanner-Williams, AL

Your mom is correct. Having a clean driving record is one of the major factors in getting lower auto insurance rate in Tanner-Williams, Alabama.

Going back to your question, Driver License Compact (DLC) is a compact among states in the US which is used to exchange information about a driver’s violations and suspensions. It has a theme of One Driver, One License, One Record. With this compact, violations done out of state are reported back to the violator’s home state and is treated the same way as if said violation happened in the violator’s home state. Some of the out of state violations that are reported are speeding, dui/dwi, and license suspension.

All states in the US are members of the DLC except for the following: Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. Your home state Alabama is a member of DLC since 1996.

For additional information about DLC you can ask the Alabama Motor Vehicle Division (MVD).
