Every car insurance guidelines differ from each other. What I could suggest you to do is to first check with your auto insurance company. There are some car insurance companies that require a person to purchase his or her own auto insurance policy once that person opts to move out or does not live with the policy holder. And also there are some auto insurance companies that do not require this.
In general, car insurance companies do not cover a vehicle that is not part of the policy holder’s household. However, there is an exemption to this rule. Like, if you have a son or daughter that does not live with you because he or she is attending college in another place, then insurer would still cover the vehicle your child is using. But this is not the case with you, since you’ve mentioned your son stopped studying.
Also, you must remember that there are some states that require a person to purchase auto insurance policy from a licensed local insurance agent only, which means auto insurance agent from the state where the driver lives.
To avoid any confusion on your part, contact your auto insurance agent in Mobile, Alabama as soon as possible. If your son needs to get auto insurance rates in Oklahoma, then he could start checking the websites that offer car insurance in his new home state.
