Insurance for high risk driver

Q: I need to get high risk driver insurance for myself, but I’ve tried a couple companies and they turned me down. How can I become insured?

A: Don’t you hate the feeling of rejection? So embarrassing. You need to lower your standards, though. As someone looking for high risk driver insurance, many companies are WAY out of your league. Try something more homely, such as a high risk insurance company. While these will give you higher quotes, they specialize in insuring people such as yourself and you have better shot at getting your policy application improved. Even they have standards, though. If you have some other discrepancies on your record, you might push those and find yourself denied.

If you’re caught in that trap, then you have to settle for the worst but still viable option, which is to go through your state’s official auto insurance assigned-risk pool, where you’ll jump in with a bunch of other lousy drivers and wait to be handed off to a random car insurance company–maybe one of the very ones which rejected you! All you need is recent proof of rejection to join in, and though the rates are high, insurance is guaranteed.
