Does My Auto Insurance Cover My Recreational Vehicle
Reader’s Question:
I’ve always wanted to own a recreational vehicle and now I have one! Should I just add this up on my auto insurance in Oregon?
Leah
Beaverton Oregon OR
How very nice for you, Leah, talk about traveling in style! Too bad you didn’t ell me what you do for a living because I’m mightily interested! Having an RV really is a privilege that is only given to a few of us – or you, I should say. I read an article somewhere about some movie star buying a chocolate fountain maker for her RV. Talk about luxury! I don’t even have a chocolate fountain maker on my home. Boy, I’d really love to experience traveling in an RV!
Anyway, enough of my salivating. Like I said, and you will be in a better position to validate this, an RV is both a vehicle and a home. For one, I’m sure that it contains more items akin to a home compared to an ordinary automobile like a bathtub, a kitchen and other items more commonly found in homes (remember the chocolate fountain!). And also I am sure that at any point in time it will most probably contain more passengers than an ordinary vehicle would. There is no auto insurance that can properly compensate for your RV and so what you should get is an RV insurance policy, which your auto insurer in Oregon will also offer. RV insurance treats the RV for what it really is – a home and a vehicle, and it will offer proper protection for this.
Apart from your present auto insurer, there will be many others in Oregon who will offer RV insurance for you. To find out which ones, enter your zip code on the space at our home page. It will churn out several RV insurance from different insurers.
High Risk Auto Insurance Racine Wisconsin WI

Reader’s Question:
I live in Racine Wisconsin and haven’t had insurance for about four years now. I’m getting married in six months and my fiancé’s insurance agent said that I should get insurance now, six months before the wedding, so that once we get married and I get added onto his insurance, I won’t be the reason for increasing his insurance. Now, I’m going to get insurance on a car that doesn’t have a loan on it, and I’m wondering how much insurance I need? What is the least amount of insurance I could get on my car, so that in six months I won’t be considered high risk anymore.
Phoebe
Racine, WI
You should qualify for liability insurance instead of full coverage. The actual amount of insurance you need depends on what your car is worth right now, how old it is, your past driving record and your “high-risk” label will also definitely have an effect. You need to get a few different quotes to be sure what company has the lowest rate for you.
The smartest thing for you to do is to have comprehensive/collision insurance since you started a “chain reaction” accident, you rear ended a car and it pushed that car into more cars – your minimum property damage limits will be GONE, even worse if you injure someone. You and your husband will be in big trouble as you will have to pay out of pocket when the other insurance company comes after you for what they paid out.
On the other hand, if you hit another car you’ll likely pay out a lot more money than you would have spent with proper auto coverage. If you’re going to drive the car regularly, I would suggest not taking the chance, in the long run it will save you, believe me. Also, there are many auto insurance companies in Racine Wisconsin offering free auto insurance quotes. So widen your options and look for the cheapest rate.

Reader’s Question:
I have had no insurance for almost a year now. I canceled my old policy because I don’t drive my car anymore and I’m selling it. So I finally bought a new car, and I’m currently looking for insurance. But I haven’t had any insurance for the past year; where can I get insurance in Jacksonville, Florida?
Michael
Jacksonville, FL
If you don’t have too many points on your license, or another situation that would prevent you from acquiring insurance, then you should have no trouble looking for one. People who have not driven for years, for whatever reason, can still purchase insurance, as long as their license is in effect or valid. You can go online to see the available insurance companies in Jacksonville Florida. But I would advise checking with your friends, family, and coworkers, for a referral to their insurance agent or preferably a local insurance broker. They have more companies to write for, thus giving you a better choice, and better rates.
There are a lot of places to look for car insurance, even though you haven’t had any for a year. To get the best price, you need to shop around and see all the available options you have. The easiest way to know the available insurance companies in Florida is to go online since most of them will give you free and instant quotes. If you go through a broker they will charge you a broker’s fee.
Almost any insurance company will insure you without problem as long as your driving record prior to this was clean. If your gap without insurance was less than 12 months your driving record may not even be impacted.

Vehicle Insurance Renewal Fresno California CA
Filed under: Auto Insurance Quotes, Auto Insurance Tips, Insurance Quotes
Reader’s Question:
My car insurance policy was automatically renewed so I forgot to report to my car insurance company in Fresno California that I had a speeding conviction before the renewal date. Does this mean, I invalidated my policy and I would not be protected by the policy at all?
Tony
Fresno, CA
If your insurance company in Fresno California called you on renewal and asked you if you had any new tickets or traffic violations and you specifically said no knowing you did that could cause you problems. But if they didn’t call you and you did get one you can always tell them. I know this because I’m working for an insurance company for years now. We would never void a policy if they didn’t report a violation to us. Not only is it a bad business practice but when you think about it they could possibly be collecting more premium for your conviction than they would do if they were to cancel you.
You should give them a call, tell them you did get one and just be honest with them since they have the right to pull your driving history.
Your policy is valid until they send you a letter saying that it’s no longer valid so if the policy expires and they decide to renew you, they always look at your driver’s record. If they do not see the conviction on your driver’s record, you have nothing to worry about. On several occasions, I have had a ticket and the insurance carrier was not able to see then from my driving history for some reason during the time of renewal.

Rental Vehicle Insurance Kansas City Kansas KS
Filed under: Auto Insurance Quotes, Auto Insurance Tips, Insurance Quotes, Rental Car Insurance
Reader’s Question:
I rented a car and declined their insurance since I had credit card insurance in Kansas City Kansas. However, I made a mistake of not initiating the rental in that credit card. While driving the rental car, the tire blew out and the car hit the median. There was some extensive damage to the car and I’m in deep trouble now as my credit car insurance will not work. Is there any way that I can be saved from this situation, please help?
Anna
Kansas City, KS
Your credit card insurance in Kansas City, Kansas isn’t auto liability insurance and it doesn’t alleviate your responsibility to have it. And you don’t insure any of your own cars or home owner’s policy so if I were you, I would be calling my insurance agent quickly. Or I would hire an attorney to sue the car rental company for allowing you to drive a defective car.
My insurance automatically covers every vehicle that I drive in excess to the owner’s insurance so I’m fully insured on rentals.
If you don’t have auto insurance yourself or if your policy does not extend to rental cars then your only option is to make a payment arrangement for the damage to the rental vehicle yourself. By refusing the coverage with the rental agency and not using a credit card that provides the coverage, you accepted the entire risk yourself. Sorry, but I think there’s no way around that for the most part.
You may have a case to claim that the vehicle was not in safe operating condition due to the defective tire. Therefore the damage is because of the rental company’s negligence. That would only apply if you didn’t do anything that could have damaged the tire in the first place such as hitting a pothole or curb.
I strongly suggest consulting with a local attorney to see if there’s any to claim negligence on the rental company as a defense.

Cheap Auto Insurance Rate Bolingbrook Illinois IL

Reader’s Question:
I’m from Bolingbrook Illinois and I’m thinking of buying or leasing a new car. I’m afraid that my car insurance premium will be affected since I heard that some certain features in a new car can make my premiums go up like red paint and sports cars, but are there any other factors?
Casey
Bolingbrook, IL
Auto repairs in general become more expensive as manufacturers of new cars incorporate expensive lightweight materials and experiment with new designs. Therefore the potential loss for these kinds of cars is higher which means higher premiums. High prices cars will almost certainly be higher to maintain, repair and insure.
There are other factors affecting auto insurance premiums aside from the type, make and model of the car. I’m not sure that’s true but older people are considered safer drivers than young ones but that’s what people who set the rates think. If your car has safety devices – air bags, anti-lock brakes, anti-theft devices, etc., your rates will decrease.
Also, the area you live in – an area is rated by zip code, and areas that have higher rates for accidents cost more. Where you park your car also affects your rates; you save can money by having a garage rather than parking it on the street or in a lot.
Of course your age, gender, and driving record will all affect your premiums too. To be sure you are getting the cheapest car insurance rates; you need to get quotes from several insurance companies in Bolingbrook Illinois since different companies have different discounts which can be pretty significant.

Rental Automobile Insurance Amherst New York NY

Reader’s Question:
My car is in a repair shop. My work demands me to be driving almost all the time. So, it’s a necessity for me to rent a car while my car is being repaired. My question is, am I still protected by my insurance even if I drive a rental car in Amherst New York?
Olivia
Amherst, NY
I assume that you have a liability insurance policy because this is mandated by New York Law. So, with your liability coverage, this covers you for property damage and bodily injury. But you must remember this applies only on the “excess” basis. Let’s say you had a vehicular accident, the insurance company provided by the rental car will pay for the damage up to their specified limits. If there are any excess damages that resulted from that accident, then your insurance policy will cover for that.
You must remember that as the driver of the rental car, you may be held fully liable for the damages incurred to the rental car, unless you purchased an optional vehicle protection from the rental vehicle company, have insurance coverage from your insurance policy or from your credit card.
Check with your auto insurance agent in Amherst, NY for more information on insurance policy. You can also get information about rental car through websites also.

Reader’s Question:
I am looking for new auto insurance company because my current insurance rates are too costly for me and I just can’t afford it. How do I cancel existing auto insurance in Hillsboro, OR? Do I just wait for my coverage to end and will it be automatically cancelled?
Pete
Hillsboro, OR
In general, people assume that if the insurance coverage period is about to end and they decide not to continue their insurance, then they can just ignore the bill and their insurance will be automatically cancelled. Sadly, this is a common myth regarding auto insurance policy.
Most companies allow their policyholder to cancel their insurance at anytime they want. However, this must be done through writing. You must inform your insurance company (through writing) the date of termination of your insurance policy. Because if your don’t, your insurance bills will only keep on pilling up until you have a cancellation of insurance due to non-payment, which will definitely go to your credit history.
Ask your insurance agent in Hillsboro, Oregon for more information on how you can cancel your insurance policy. You can also visit the websites for auto insurance companies in your area to shop around for insurance rates.

Automobile Insurance Claims Arlington Virginia VA
Filed under: Auto Insurance Quotes, Auto Insurance Tips, Insurance Quotes
Reader’s Question:
I was recently involved in a car accident. It was my first accident and the other party is at fault. My friends were telling me to be very careful when the auto insurance adjuster from the other driver involved interviews me. What are the things usually asked by auto insurance adjuster in Arlington, Virginia? Help me please.
Janet
Arlington, VA
I’m sorry for what happened.
Whether it’s your own auto insurance adjuster or the other party, some of the questions they usually ask are:
- What happened in the vehicular accident? (who is driving?, where did the accident happened? etc.)
- Are there any passengers involved? (name? address? contact numbers? etc.)
- Was there a police report filed? (policeman called to the scene?)
- What were the vehicles involved? (makes? models? colors? etc.)
- What was the extent of the damage to the vehicle? (parts? etc.)
Now, if it’s the other driver’s insurance adjuster, he or she may ask you for more information like:
- Part of the body that was injured;
- History of body injury or treatment on that body part;
- Doctor’s diagnosis before on that injury
Remember, the auto insurance adjuster from the other party has only one goal, to make your insurance claim as little as possible. For example your upper back was injured in the said accident. If you tell them that you had the same problem 5 years ago, they might take this as something that aggravates the problem you have with you upper back and give a less value for this injury.
Always consult with your trusted car insurance adjusters Arlington, VA to get hold of more information. You can also consult the websites that offer information on handling auto insurance adjusters.

Automobile Insurance Claims Santa Fe New Mexico NM

Reader’s Question:
My friend was involved in a car accident here in New Mexico. He mentioned that he’s having a problem with his insurance claim because the other party’s auto insurance adjuster is giving him a hard time. What are auto insurance adjusters? What are their roles in car insurance?
Janet
Santa Fe, NM
I’m sorry for what happened to your friend.
When a vehicular accident happened, people involved will most likely file an auto insurance claim. Once that claimed has been filed, you will be contacted by an auto insurance adjuster (or for some companies they are called claims representative or adjuster).
It is the job of an auto insurance adjuster is to investigate and gather all facts and information about the accident to assess and settle both personal injury and vehicle claims. To name some of the things an auto insurance adjuster does: he or she examines property damage to find out the extent of liability; check polices to determine the coverage; interview witnesses, claimants; and check hospital and police records.
If an auto insurance adjuster is from the other party, (the other driver involved in the accident) then you must careful with what you say. The reason for this is simple, if it’s your own auto insurance company, they are responsible to pay you the amount depending on your policy limits. However, with the other party’s auto insurance adjuster they only have one goal, to make your insurance claim as small as possible. This is because if their insurer is at fault, then they may be liable to pay you not only medical bills or vehicle damage but also damages including your pain and suffering, lost salary, and other expenses that you have incurred or will incur.
Check with your trusted insurance agents for more information on what to do when you are asked by auto insurance adjuster. You can also check on different websites on how to handle insurance adjusters in Santa Fe, New Mexico. But the best advice I can give you is to be safe whenever you drive to avoid an accident from happening.
