You should give them a call, tell them you did get one and just be honest with them since they have the right to pull your driving history.

Your policy is valid until they send you a letter saying that it’s no longer valid so if the policy expires and they decide to renew you, they always look at your driver’s record. If they do not see the conviction on your driver’s record, you have nothing to worry about. On several occasions, I have had a ticket and the insurance carrier was not able to see then from my driving history for some reason during the time of renewal.

That would only apply if you didn’t do anything that could have damaged the tire in the first place such as hitting a pothole or curb.

I strongly suggest consulting with a local attorney to see if there’s any to claim negligence on the rental company as a defense.
