There are four different types of automobile insurance you’ll need to look at if you want to have full coverage in Charleston West Virginia.

First is liability insurance which pays for the medical costs of a person injured as a result of collision with your vehicle. This also pays for the repair or replacement of the other person’s vehicle. West Virginia law requires all registered vehicles to be insured. The minimum amount of car insurance coverage required is $20,000 per person up to $40,000 per accident and $10,000 for property damage.

Liability insurance alone is not enough to be fully covered; you’ll need to purchase two additional forms of automobile insurance: collision and comprehensive in order to get your car repaired or replaced.
Collision and comprehensive insurance both pay for the repair or replacement of your vehicle. The difference is that collision insurance covers you if you’re involved in an accident with another vehicle or if you strike a stationary object, such as a lamp post or a tree. On the other hand, comprehensive insurance covers you if your vehicle is vandalized or stolen or if it is damaged by natural causes such as a falling tree branch, hail, flood, or if you should hit an animal, such as a deer.

The last form of insurance you’ll need to purchase is personal injury protection insurance. This will pay for your medical bills and for the medical bills of passengers in your vehicle if you should be involved in an accident with another vehicle or with a stationary object.
