As mandated by Insurance Law, if an insurance company decides not to renew the policy for a non-commercial car, between 45 to 60 days before the end date of the policy, they should mail a letter to the policy holder about this decision. This gives enough time for everybody to get another insurance policy from another company.

Insurance Law allows auto insurance companies to not renew up to 2% of their non-commercial vehicle policy holder (including one policy for each new two policies that are written) per calendar year. It is a must that these non renewals follow the company’s insurance rules. However, they are not required to be filed with the New York Insurance Department.

You must take the early notification given to you by your insurance company as the best time to get another policy from a different car insurance company.
